We are a secular learning community in western Massachusetts. Our learning spaces, for ages 5-9 years, are primarily outdoors.

Red Pine Learning Community provides intellectual enrichment and opportunities for socialization and community building.

Children learn how to bring mindful attention to the natural world and their inner world while deepening their sense of belonging in both nature and the community.

“Do you recall being a little kid, mouth agape at the magic of forests or dinosaurs or goldfish or the moon or ants? […]That feeling of awe that rushes through us when we get up close to the natural world is a signal. Like all strong feelings in the heart and gut, it is telling us something about what matters — about where we can find joy and connection, about what is valuable and sacred…. In other words, it is telling us how to survive.”

Our values of outdoors-first learning, community care, accessibility, evidence-based decision-making, and environmental stewardship guide our practices. These practices include prioritizing the health and safety of all members of our community.

Red Pine Learning Community includes families and households that are medically vulnerable, seeking to avoid illness, navigating food allergies, or generally committed to creating a safe and inclusive community. We welcome applications from BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ households.
